Many children with Down’s syndrome will attend mainstream school, however they may need a bit of additional support.
We provide specific training on the education of people with Down’s syndrome which is not provided by the Local Authority.
Although in many ways children with Down’s syndrome are just like any other child, they do have a very specific learning profile. Children with Down’s syndrome are visual learners, can have poor auditory memory skills, poor short-term memory and many have poor gross or fine motor skills.
Our training days cover many topics including behaviour, speech and language therapy, accessing the curriculum, numeracy and reading and writing skills.
We ensure the cost of our training days are very reasonable as it makes it possible for schools to send as many members of staff that may be involved in the education of a child with Down’s syndrome as possible. Our aim is to ensure that our children have the best possible chance of succeeding in a mainstream setting.

Starting or transitioning schools can be a challenging time for most children, but when you have additional needs, it can be even more overwhelming. We have designed a pre-school and primary school pack which provides information and teaching aids to help schools meet the education needs of children with Down’s syndrome.
The packs are specific to their age and their learning profile. Thee resources will grow with the child as they progress through school to help and support them through their education.
Our packs are designed to be used in school and utilised by the SENCO, teaching assistant or class teacher. The packs help teachers to adapt activities and modify them to suit the child. As each child develops, we provide the next level of resource. The resources are then reused and given to the next child starting their journey.
