Who we are

We have been supporting people with Down’s syndrome, along with their families, carers and everyone with an interest in Down’s syndrome, since our Group was founded in 1984.

Swindon Down’s Syndrome Group is a local charity dedicated to championing and supporting people with Down’s syndrome across Swindon and the surrounding areas, including Fairford, Malmesbury, Hungerford, Pewsey, Marlborough, Hullavington, Chippenham, Devizes, Calne, Ashton Keynes, Cirencester, Aldbourne, Bromham, Melksham and Cheltenham.

The Group began as a small group of parents meeting for coffee and offering one another friendship, support and shared experience. Over time, more families joined, and in 2003 we became an independent registered charity.

We are a volunteer-led charity, which means that everyone involved in running and supporting Swindon Down’s Syndrome Group gives their time freely, driven by their passion and commitment to the Group and its members.

We are very fortunate to be supported by our fantastic trustees and volunteers.

Our vision

Our vision is to help people with Down’s syndrome have the same opportunities as everyone else, while also raising awareness and understanding of Down’s syndrome within our local community.
