Sport is a great activity that allows our children to interact with others, work as a team and develop further skills thats why we organise regular sporting groups and are part of DSActive.
DSActive provides children and young adults with Down’s syndrome a fair opportunity to get involved in sports – particularly the nation’s

DSActive Football training
Haydon Wick Sports Centre, Wednesdays 5-6pm
The DSActive group provides weekly football training, during term-time for people aged 5+ with Down’s Syndrome. The DSActive football team take part in competitions with other football teams in the same position as us.
Training sessions are held at Haydon Wick Sports Centre on Wednesdays from 5-6pm during term-time. Please feel free to come along and try it out, you need to bring a drink and wear suitable clothing for indoor use. Trainers and sports kit required for practise plus a drink for half time. Kit is provided after player has been with the group for one term.
Dates for 2017 are:
Jan 11th, 18th, 25th & Feb 1st, 8th
March 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th
April 26th, May 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th,
June 14th, 21st, 28th & July 5th 12th

Delta Tennis Centre, Welton Road SN5 7XF, Sunday 5-6pm
A weekly DSActive tennis session is held at Delta Tennis Centre on Sundays between 5pm and 6pm. Anyone over the age of 5 with Down’s Syndrome is welcome. Cost is £4.05 per session if you have a Better Leisure Card (£5.10 without) payable direct to the
centre on the day.

Thamesdown Hydrotherapy Pool, Monday 6-7pm (Fortnightly)
Swimming sessions at the Thamesdown Hydrotherapy Pool take place on Monday evenings 6-7pm on a fortnightly basis. Please note the times include changing time. Sessions are open to all ages but all children must be accompanied by an adult and remain their responsibility at all times.
The sessions start with a period of coaching by Vicky Hunt, tailored to individual levels of ability. This is followed by free time where people can continue practicing what they have learnt or just play with balls for example.
The cost per session will be £1.00 for the person with Down’s Syndrome and £2.00 for the parent/carer accompanying. Payment is normally due for sets of five sessions. Please make cheques payable to the “Swindon Down’s Syndrome Group” and return to John Stow at the sessions.
