Swindon Down's Syndrome Group

Swimming

Swimming sessions at the Thamesdown Hydrotherapy pool are continuing on Monday evenings from 6 -7pm on a fortnightly basis. The times include changing time. They are open to all ages but all children must be accompanied by an adult and remain their responsibility at all times.

The sessions start with a period of coaching by Vicky Hunt, tailored to individual levels of ability. This is followed by free time where people can continue practicing what they have learnt or just play with balls etc.

It has been necessary to review the cost of providing these sessions as we no longer have any grant monies allocated to them. Therefore, from Monday 1st October the cost per session will be £1.00 for the person with Down’s

Syndrome and £2.00 for the parent/carer accompanying.

There are currently some spaces available so if you wish to join us please get in touch with John Stow**. Could those who currently swim also confirm that they wish to continue.

The sessions will now be split into groups of 5 dates with full payment due at the first session. The first set of dates is:

Monday 1st October

Monday 15th October

Monday 29th October

Monday 12th November

Monday 26th November

Cheques payable to the “Swindon Down's Syndrome Group” can be given to John at the session.

NB The pool is currently waiting for a date when essential building works will be carried out. We have been promised 4 weeks’ notice when they know but this will mean a break in our sessions until the work is completed. More information when we have it.

Going to see Swindon Town Football Club?
The Swindon Down's Syndrome Group are very fortunate to have a friend such as Cliff Puffett who has donated 10 season tickets for Swindon Town Football Club again this year.
If you would like to take advantage of this then contact Terry Parker no later than the Friday evening of the week you wish to go. You can, of course book in advance. The tickets are available for a person with Down's syndrome and a parent/carer. If other members of the family or friends wish to attend also then they will need to purchase their own tickets.
